Nexus 7 Second Generation Release Date Scheduled for July 20?

The Google Nexus 7 second generation model's release date could be as early as July 20.

The new tablet will arrive in stores at the beginning of next week, according to a recent Engadget report. The site received this information from an anonymous tipster who sent pictures of marketing plans currently being used by Office Max to offer the new product.

The photos reveal that the new Nexus 7 will be sold alongside the original version. The company will most likely do this until it runs out of the older model. Another picture shows that the new Nexus 7 will arrive on July 20; however, it probably will not be on the shelves until after Google officially unveils the device at its media event on July 24.

Retailers normally receive products days before their release date so this is really not surprising. The new Nexus 7 will be slightly more expensive than the original version retailing for $269.99, according to more information found in these photos.

Other pictures of the actual device were recently leaked to Android Central. The new version happens to look almost identical to the original model. Google could also decide to launch its new Android 4.3 software at the same event where the new tablet will be unveiled.

This Asus made product will enter into a market that is a bit more flooded by 7-inch tablets than the original did. The competition has certainly grown as Samsung released its 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3, Amazon launched the Kindle Fire HD, and Apple put out the iPad Mini. All of these slates are affordably priced, and feature impressive specifications.

The Nexus 10 successor will also most likely be released sometime before the end of this year. The original version launched in November of 2012.
