NFL Trade News 2017: New York Jets Looking to Trade for Starting Quarterback AJ McCarron

It's that time of the year again when the watch for AJ McCarron begins. Since the former Alabama star is approaching the final year of his deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, football fans believe that it is high time for him to be traded.

Right now, several teams in the National Football League (NFL) are already in search for quarterbacks and the bout of movements brought about by the opening of the free agency period last week seems to not get in the way of this search. Recently, it has been reported that the New York Jets are currently eyeing McCarron as the team plans to trade Sheldon Richardson.

Now that Bryce Petty is all the New York Jets has, it is possible that the team will be one to watch for in the AJ McCarron trade talks. In fact, Gang Green Nation's David Wyatt tweeted last week that the team is not only eyeing McCarron but is planning to trade him with Richardson.

"Trading Sheldon Richardson to the #Bengals with AJ McCarron coming back in a certain package to the #Jets has some legs to it, #Jetup #NYJ," posted Wyatt.

Wyatt also revealed that he recently spoke with a scout who suggested that the team was looking to trade for McCarron. Now that the Jets are interested in quarterbacks that are either trade bait or free agents, McCarron is on the top of the big board.

Following McCarron's solid performance in the 2015 regular season and playoffs in place of Andy Dalton, who was injured at that time, McCarron played in just one game last season. Since Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has always been supportive of Dalton and McCarron beating him seems highly unlikely, football fans believe that the best path for McCarron to take as a starting quarterback is a trade.

Right now, McCarron's salary cap is just $735,413. Considering how affordable he is, it won't take much for the Jets to get him via a trade.
