NFL Trade Rumors 2016: Colin Kaepernick Wants Out of 49ers, Would Love to Join Jets
The New York Jets is one of those teams in the NFL that has not gotten the best luck when it comes to quarterbacks. Some good ones came in, but no one really became a franchise player for the past few years.
However, that luck may soon change in the most unexpected way.
A report from the Daily News revealed that the unhappy quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick, is trying to get out and is contemplating on joining the Jets. If this rumor is true and New York does everything it needs to do to get him, then the team's fortunes next season will certainly turn around.
Kaepernick did not have the best of seasons last year, where he was seen visibly struggling on the field. He eventually was benched for a large part of the season and saw himself and the rest of the 49ers adjust to a coaching change.
While there really is no confirmation or official word on this issue, it certainly looks like the Jets are already aware of it, and any team will definitely be interested in the possibility of acquiring a top-level talent like Kaepernick.
The 28-year-old quarterback fell out of favor of new head coach Chip Kelly, who took over last Jan. 14. It was in fact particularly obvious that both didn't like each other, but it was intriguing why Kelly didn't want Kaepernick to be his starter.
The quarterback didn't miss out on the signs, eventually becoming aware that his time with the 49ers was coming to an end. The report said that what he wants is for the 49ers to either cut or trade him so that he finds himself with another team by next season.
His decision, though, is not really surprising since several news outlets already reported late last year that it was almost certain he won't be returning to the team by this year. Those rumors eventually were aggravated when Kelly was hired.
