NFL Trade Rumors: What Would It Take for the Indianapolis Colts to Move QB Andrew Luck?

Could Jacoby Brissett emerge as a potential in-house replacement for Luck?

The Indianapolis Colts are not expected to be a playoff team this year and one of the leading reasons for why that is believed to be the case is due to quarterback Andrew Luck, or rather, the lack of him.

Currently, Luck is expected to be absent for an extended part of the season due to injury, and the Colts are missing a lot with him away from the field.

Ever since the first time Luck put on number 12 for the Colts, he has dazzled football fans with his preternatural ability for playing the game. Things seem to come easy to him while on the field.

Luck is also an extremely skilled and physically impressive quarterback, and those things combined enable him to make plays that other players at his position simply cannot.

Beyond that, Luck has also shown a flair for the dramatic, and he has already notched some signature wins in his relatively young career.

By almost any measure, Luck is a franchise quarterback.

Still, there are some recent rumblings that maybe, just maybe, the Colts may ponder the possibility of moving their super-talented signal-caller.

Part of that is because of the emergence of the recently acquired Jacoby Brissett.

Brissett's talent is easy to see, and it was obvious even when he was still with the New England Patriots. He has also continued to show flashes of brilliance now that he is the starting quarterback for the Colts.

Obviously, Luck is still the better player, but Brissett has at least shown that he can be something.

Brissett's emergence alone would not be enough for the Colts to seriously consider choosing him over Luck, but when taking into account the latter's laundry list of injuries, the matter may not be dismissed completely right away.

As Metro US pointed out, something similar to what happened to Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady in New England would have to play out in Indianapolis for the Colts to choose Brissett over Luck. That is a longshot scenario at best, however.

The Colts know they have something in special in Luck and even if there is a new quarterback in town who is looking good right now, Indianapolis still and will likely continue to belong to number 12.
