Nick Cannon Kidney Failure: Entertainer In 'Good Spirits' After Fans Pray
After asking fans to pray for her entertainment mogul husband, Nick Cannon, singer Mariah Carey said he is in good spirits after suffering from a mild kidney failure.
"As always, he's in good spirits considering the situation," Carey told PEOPLE magazine. “We are hopeful that he'll be 100 percent as soon as possible. We really appreciate everybody's love and support."
Carey broke the news about Cannon’s mild kidney failure on Twitter Wednesday. She tweeted a picture of herself in a hospital bed with her husband saying, “This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are."

After breaking the news, Carey also initially called on fans to pray for her husband during the troubled times.
“Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure,” Carey wrote. “We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful.”
The singer expressed her concern through her website and Twitter, ensuring people that her comedian husband’s hospitalization was no laughing matter.
“We’re doing OK (sic)…the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK,” Carey wrote. “I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers.”
Although Cannon has not been as vocal about his condition, he did alert fans that he was being moved from a Colorado hospital to Los Angeles. He also thanked fans for their support.
“Currently being [transferred] to a hospital in LA. Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern," he tweeted. "You know me...I will be a'ight."
