Nicki Minaj Asks Fans to Vote for Beach or Church Wedding
Weeks after sparking engagement rumors, rap mogul Nicki Minaj is asking fans about their thoughts concerning a church wedding.
"RT for beach wedding. Fave for church wedding," Minaj simply tweeted to over 20 million fans.
Minaj, the 33-year-old entertainer who was born Onika Maraj, took to Instagram earlier this month to debut a large diamond on her wedding ring finger that she publicly thanked her rapper boyfriend Meek Mill for.
Although she denied being engaged in a Billboard report earlier this month, she did not deny the possibilities of marrying her boyfriend in the future.
Minaj may be a rap mogul who has toured the world but she's also a woman who has been vocal about wanting to start her own family one day. The rapper previously revealed that she had an epiphany when embarking on a world tour years ago.
"I was on a world tour, a big feat for a female rapper," Minaj told Marie Claire magazine in 2013. "For the first time, I allowed myself to feel proud of where music had gotten me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. You feel the need to pay it forward, which starts with analyzing yourself with a true desire to grow.
"I was praying every day, 'You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child,'" Minaj told Marie Claire. "I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me, because some people have this life for a year or five or 10 — and a lot of them lose it. I didn't want to become a person who wasn't enjoying the moment."
The influence from Minaj's own mother, Carol Maraj, helped the entertainer cement her own foundation as a Christian.
"My life as a Christian and believer was opened to Onika. As her career continued to thrive, she developed more concerns about life," Carol previously told The Christian Post. "She knew I believed in the power of prayer, therefore, she constantly called me and our pastor, to pray for different concerns she may have. ... I believe by her acknowledging the power of prayer, and her strong desire to tithe, together with a praying mother, contributed to her success."
The rapper previously opened up about having a rough upbringing, with a formerly abusive father who turned his life around by going through drug rehabilitation and church.
"He's still with my mother. He went to rehab and cleaned himself up," Minaj said in an interview with The Guardian in 2012. "Eventually they started going to church a lot, and he got saved and started changing his life."
Minaj also told the publication who her heroes were: "God. And my mother."
