Nicki Minaj Ring: Rapper Responds to DJ Khaled Proposal Amid Restraining Order Rumors? (VIDEO)
Nicki Minaj took to social networking site Instagram on Sunday to respond to a marriage proposal recently made by rapper DJ Khaled, amid claims suggesting the pop star filed a restraining order against him.
On Thursday the Hip Hop producer, real name Khaled bin Abdul Khaled, publicly "proposed" to Minaj, 30, via MTV. He reportedly flashed a 10-carat, radiant-cut sparkler worth approximately $500,000 while pouring his heart out about his feelings for the pop star.
"Nicki Minaj, I'm at MTV. I love you. I like you. I want you. I want you to be mine. I'm here at MTV because it's a worldwide network. Only reason I'm not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you're busy," Khaled said in the video.
"Nicki Minaj, will you marry me?" Khaled said while flashing the alleged engagement ring. "I feel like you need a man like me in your life."
Twitter immediately went into overdrive as fans began speculating whether the proposal is legitimate or perhaps a publicity stunt.
On Friday, one day after the bizarre proposal, various blogs claimed Minaj filed a restraining order against Khaled, 37, however this has not been confirmed.
Shortly after the proposal went viral Minaj, who was once romantically linked to her hype man, Safaree Lloyd Samuels, posted a photo on Instagram which raised questions about whether the "Starships" singer and Khaled are in fact an item.
"It's all u need," Minaj wrote in a caption alongside a photo of herself wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the word "LOVE."
Critics are questioning whether Khaled's proposal to his fellow Cash Money artist is a publicity stunt. On Sunday, hours after posting the t-shirt photo, Minaj took to Twitter where she revealed that an announcement of some kind will be made Monday morning.
"1st announcement happens tomorrow morning 9am EST," Minaj tweeted July 28.
