Nicole Houde Arrested, Second Miss USA Contestant to Face Charges

Nicole Houde, Miss New Hampshire 2010 and a Miss USA contestant, has been arrested for assaulting her boyfriend, police reports state. She has been charged with biting, scratching, and punching boyfriend Scott Nickerson.

An argument broke out between the two after Nickerson took Houde's cell phone and would not return it, Lt. Michael Hurley told the Union Leader. Nickerson accused Houde of infidelity before taking her phone, and Houde was arrested at her work later in the day.

Since 2010, Houde has begun working as a personal trainer and beauty pageant consultant. She has her own website, which states, "I learned so much from my experience and I enjoyed doing everything that I did, so why not expand that into my career and do what I love?!"

Houde advises hopeful pageant contestants with "walking, posing, facial expressions, biographies, and sponsorships." The site has been up since October, 2011, and appeals to those younger contestants and high school girls dressing up for prom.

"I look forward to helping others better themselves and reach for their goals because a lot of times life gets in the way, we get distracted and just need a little extra boost and help to get things on the right track," Houde wrote on the site.

Although she no longer holds the Miss New Hampshire title, one wonders if she is living up to the standard titleholders often maintain. As CBS News has pointed out, the Miss USA contest has recently been plagued by scandal.

Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih, was charged with drunk driving but instead pleaded "no contest," which allowed her to make a deal with prosecutors. Fakih could face 93 days in jail when sentenced on May 9.

"I'm very happy I can put this behind me," she told reporters. "I feel like it was fair on both ends and now I am just going to move on and make sure that, you know, I learn from my lesson."
