Nicole Richie Gray Hair Shocks Fans
Nicole Richie debuted an unusual new look this week, sending many fans into a tizzy. The 31-year-old television personality attended the 2013 Met Gala in New York City on Monday night.
Also known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, the evening saw some very unusual choices from today's hottest stars, and Richie was no exception.
Consistent with the theme of the evening, "Punk: Chaos to Couture," Richie wore a silver and white, long sleeved embroidered bead necklace to the gala.
However, the "Fashion Star" mentor paired the Topshop gown with upswept grayish-violet hair.
Ahead of her red carpet appearance on Monday, Richie warned fans that hair dye would be included in her look.
"Hair time Met Ball," she posted to a photo on Instagram.
The new hairstyle made waves on social media sites, with many fans praising the unusual hairstyle.
Among Richie's fans sounding off on the look was Rihanna, and the singer posted a message to both Instagram and Twitter.
"B-h makes me throw up! #bestdressed #2013Metgala @nicolerichie," Rihanna posted along with a photo of Richie taken during the Met Gala.
The tweet allowed Rihanna's millions of followers to know that the singer approved of Richie's "sick" look.
Furthermore, Richie responded to Rihanna's post, tweeting, "Currently shining bright like a diamond, a ruby, & 2 emeralds. @rihanna"
Richie is married to musician Joel Madden. The couple share 5-year-old daughter Harlow and 3-year-old son Sparrow.
The fashion mogul first rose to fame with the Fox reality television series "The Simple Life" alongside her childhood friend Paris Hilton. Today, Richie appears on NBC's "Fashion Star" alongside Jessica Simpson.
As for other Met Gala 2013 attendees, Richie was not the only celebrity to debut a new look. Anne Hathaway changed her dark pixie haircut into a blonde look, while Miley Cyrus styled her short hair into jagged spikes.
