Twenty years after the Nike Air Max Griffey 1 was first released, the sports apparel company has introduced a shoe to celebrate the anniversary and also the induction of Ken Griffey Jr. to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Patriotic Colorway

Dubbed the Nike Air Max Griffey 1 "Griffey for Prez," comes in a midnight navy, red-gum and light brown colorway, Sole Collector noted. It copied the features of the 1996 original shoe called "Griffey for President", whose colors symbolized patriotism.

Aside from this, the kicks also dons stars on the heel tabs and campaign buttons on its heels. According to Kicks On Fire, this new introduction is also accented with a white color on the midsole and the number "24" on the heel patch. The number symbolized Griffey's number during his baseball career.

Shoe Accents

To complete the classic look of the shoes, red accents on the laces, strap and heel branding, a gum outsole and a gold Swoosh were added to the Nike Air Max Griffey 1 "Griffey for Prez."

Induction to Hall of Fame

Griffey Jr. was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame on January. He received the required 75 percent of votes from the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

The baseball superstar expressed gratitude for being voted in the Hall of Fame earlier this year.
