Nintendo 3DS Release 'Louvre' Willl Be Its First Region Free Title

Nintendo 3DS has released a region-free title called, Louvre, that will be playable in in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Kotaku reports that Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre will be available for digital download and retail and will work across multiple regions instead of being region locked like most games and consoles.

Louvre is not a video game, it is an art museum guide, almost like an app, so it does not have to be rated or broken down like a normal game. This is why it is not region locked, it is supposed to be used all over the world.

"There are many different regions around the world, and each region has its own cultural acceptance and legal restrictions, as well as different age ratings. There are always things that we're required to do in each different region, which may go counter to the idea that players around the world want the freedom to play whatever they want," said Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president, earlier this year.

Nintendo's Wii U Miiverse had a new update go live last week in preparation for its arrival to the 3DS handheld console.

"This update is designed to prepare for the launch of Miiverse on Nintendo 3DS. Besides the existing communities for Wii U software, many new communities will be created for Nintendo 3DS software and even more users will join Miiverse. With this in mind, we have made the following changes to both the Wii U and web versions of Miiverse," the announcement from NintendoMarty read on Miiverse.

In the posting, some of the new features are spoken about including new display options for the community list using filters, changes to the profile page, and a change to the default display setting for communities within the Miiverse.

"This was already announced in the latest Nintendo Direct, but I wanted to remind you that Miiverse is coming to Nintendo 3DS in December. Please note that a Nintendo Network ID is required to use Miiverse on Nintendo 3DS. If you already have a Nintendo Network ID on Wii U, you can continue using the same ID on your Nintendo 3DS. For more details, please visit the official Nintendo website," the final posting read.

Other updates that will be integrated with the 3DS are YouTube and the sharing of funds between the console to purchase games and other items.
