Nintendo News: Reggie Fils-Aimé On The Switch and VR Possiblity

Last year, Nintendo faced a threat of bankruptcy, after it was almost unable to keep up with the fast-aced changes in the gaming market. During this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the gaming giant made a spectacular comeback, which effectively saved them from what would have been an unfortunate situation.

Considering their success, Nintendo's chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aimé had a few things to say about their flagship console, the Nintendo Switch, which was responsible for most of their success in the past year.

According to reports, Fils-Aimé has a comment on the Nintendo Switch. He said the shortage of the supply got him to wish for more hardware, even though they had initially placed high expectations for the console before it was released.

The president of Nintendo expressed his regret for not being able to meet the demand, and he further stated that they are working hard to rectify the situation, especially considering that most titles are migrating over to Nintendo's flagship.

"We were prepared to deliver against that supply chain. We had estimates of demand. But the reality is that the demand came in well in excess of even our high end estimates, so we were then in a position of playing catch up," Nintendo's Fils-Aimé told Forbes in an interview. "And we've been playing catch up ever since. We've stated publicly we've continued to improve the supply chain, the production continues to ramp up... but that's what happened. When you look at the realities of supply, we dramatically over-delivered for launch in terms of March launch month."

While the gaming giant is attempting to catch up to the demands of the Nintendo Switch, Fils-Aimé has also revealed that Nintendo is looking into virtual reality.

Nintendo has always joined the frontlines of technological advancement so fans can expect to hear the results of their investigation of VR and their consoles in the next few months.
