'Dragon Quest XI' Slated for Nintendo NX Release
Square Enix has confirmed that "Dragon Quest XI" is currently being made for the Nintendo NX.
In addition to the Nintendo platform, the game will also have a release for the PS4 and the 3DS. It is rumored that all versions will be released simultaneously, according to franchise creator Yuji Horii, along with Masahiro Sakurai and Junichi Masuda.

It was previously announced that "Dragon Quest XI" will only be coming to the PlayStation 4 and 3DS. Square Enix recanted their statement to include that the game will be coming to Nintendo NX as well. However, instead of releasing the versions on separate dates they have decided to release them all in one go to avoid "spoilers," Crunchy Roll noted.
Square Enix plans to release "Dragon Quest XI" on May 27, 2017 in Japan while Nintendo NX will be released by March 2017, according to the outlet.
'Dragon Quest XI' Nintendo NX Release
In an interview with Gematsu, "Dragon Quest XI" director Masahiro Sakai shared that making the release of the game for different consoles like Nintendo NX, PS4 and 3DS is challenging. They had to use different hardwares in order for it to run on the mentioned platforms. Furthermore, the "Dragon Quest XI" team is also going for 3D and 2D versions for the 3DS. This means that there will be a total of four versions of the game across three different platforms.
"Dragon Quest XI" creator Yuji Horii adds that depending on what platform the game is played, users may have different experiences. This is because the mentioned platforms have different "movement" and environment.

It has been speculated that the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid console consisting of two different parts. Furthermore, these parts can be operated independently from each other. Not much is known about the console yet but Nintendo is expected to reveal more information as the released date of the Nintendo NX rolls around soon.
