Nintendo Switch News and Updates: Company Boss Answers Complaints About Few Launch Titles

Recently, Nintendo America's Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aime addressed early complaints about having only a few games available for the console upon launch.

In the interview, The Washington Post reporter Hayley Tsukayama shared that she generally loved the Nintendo Switch. However, the relatively small number of available games upon the console's release did not go unnoticed.

Fils-Aime addressed the matter, saying, "When you think about a new platform, what will define it as a long-term success are the ongoing range of games and experiences that come to the platform — not what's available on Day One."

Added to that, the Nintendo America executive ensured that while the list of launch titles for the Nintendo Switch is relatively shorter than what gamers are used to, they do have "a steady cadence of great games" that will arrive at a later time. Fils-Aime believes that the lineup of games at launch and those that are still in development for their portable console are enough reasons to convince players to purchase a Nintendo Switch system.

In relation to that, Fils-Aime expressed that he is happy with how third-party game publishers are bringing some of their most successful titles to the portable console. "We're thrilled that companies like Bethesda are bringing content to Nintendo Switch, sometimes for the first time on a Nintendo platform. I'm excited about sports content that's coming — FIFA, NBA2K from Take Two," Fils-Aime added.

He further explained that the deep bench of famous games coming to Nintendo Switch is enough proof that big developers appreciate the console and what it can deliver such that they consider the platform worthy of their successful releases.

When asked how the Nintendo Switch differs to other famous gaming platforms, Fils-Aime's answer is also rooted to the contents available for the Switch. The Nintendo boss explained that, to him, "the biggest differentiator" are the exclusive titles for their newest console, such as the launch title "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," the upcoming "Super Mario Odyssey," and "Fire Emblem Warriors."

However, apart from the games for the Nintendo Switch, Fils-Aime revealed that they are working to extend the services available for the console through collaborations with companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon.

Nintendo Switch is now out in the market for $299.99.
