Nintendo Working on New Achievement System for Switch, According to 'Lichtspeer' Devs

The Nintendo Switch does not have an Achievement system at the moment, but if the latest reports are anything to go by, this will change soon.

Lichthund and Crunching Koalas, the folks behind the hit fast-paced lightspear-throwing simulator "Lichtspeer," revealed in a recent Reddit AMA session that Nintendo is actively working on rectifying this.

The information came out as the developers attempted to respond a fan who asked whether or not "Lichtspeer" will support online rankings in the future:

Nintendo doesn't have an official support for Achievements and Leaderboards, like Sony or Microsoft, but we know that they're working on it.

He then attempted to walk back the remarks, but the answer quickly rose to the top of the Reddit thread as the revelation caught the attention of many participants:

Nintendo is yet to confirm that an Achievement system is being put together for the Nintendo Switch so fans are advised to take it with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, gamers who rock the console hope that the task-based system in question will materialize in the future.

"Lichtspeer" was first released to the PlayStation 4, PS Vita and PC last year. The overwhelming reception in addition to the accolades it received, despite the limited funding, caught the attention of Nintendo, who approached them to bring the game to the Switch console. This resulted to the release of "Lichtspeer Double Speer Edition" a few days ago.

Apart from the Achievement system coming to the Nintendo Switch, Lichthund also teased what their next game would be:

We actually have a couple of ideas — can't talk specifics yet, we're in an early prototyping phase but our next game will definitely be something bigger in terms of scale, we learned a lot and now it's time to use them skillz. We're definitely not giving up and are not planning anytime soon.
