No Human can Bind us

Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them. (Daniel 3:26-27 NIV)

The fire in the furnace was heated to seven times its normal temperature. Fully clothed, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were bound with ropes and thrown into that inferno. Again, it was so hot that the soldiers who were carrying out Nebuchadnezzar's orders were burned up in the process of throwing our three guys into the fire. When the three men came out, their skin was not burned, their clothes were not scorched, and their hair was not singed. They didn't even smell like smoke! That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead ..."

Just like you and me, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego most likely - at least in the backs of their minds - thought for just a moment, why are we being caused to go through this? Haven't we been faithful? Haven't we walked in obedience to God, even in this evil land? Why is He letting this happen to us? But these three understood that their lives were in God's eternal hands and that they were a part of God's eternal plan. This means that their trial - just like every trial you and I face in our own lives - has an eternal significance.

Isn't it wonderful to know that the things of earth that bind you are the only things that are going to get burned up? Praise God that your life is in His hands!
