'No Man's Sky' News and Updates: Free Major Path Finder Update Goes Live
Hello Games has just released a major update for "No Man's Sky" which they are calling the Path Finder Update 1.2, and the best thing about it is it's free.
As promised earlier, Hello Games has released the detailed patch notes now that the Path Finder Update 1.2 is available and brings in major visual improvements, PlayStation 4 Pro support, new vehicles and contents, much needed game fixes and more.
To improve the game's visual aspect, some of what Hello Games has incorporated into it are better resolution textures, "more accurate Ambient Lighting," added filter options, high-dynamic range option for TV outputs and other monitors, and enhanced high contrast lighting effects.
"No Man's Sky" can now be played in 4K resolution on PC and PS4 Pro. Hello Games added support for specific features on the PS4 Pro such as for 4K rendering, Delta Color Compression, and automatic Depth Buffer decompression.
In the vehicles department, the Path Finder Update 1.2 has introduced "Starship Specialisations" that categorizes them based on their types and how they can be perfectly used. As per Hello Games' description, "Shuttles are all-rounders, Fighters specialise in combat, Haulers have expanded cargo holds and Explorer vessels feature increased warp capabilities." For a better understanding of the vehicles, Hello Games have also rated them from A, B, C, or S. The latter is referred to as an "ultra rare" type.
What is also interesting about the latest major patch is it will allow players to trade in their current starship to be able to get a discount when buying a new one.
Other than starships, players will be more enticed to explore their own universe with the introduction of the exocrafts or "land-based vehicles" that can be used in navigation, combat, and mining for resources. Exocrafts can be acquired through hiring a Vy'keen Technician to be stationed on the player's base and completing missions.
Hello Games has also added features that will let "No Man's Sky" gamers reach out to others through the internet. For one, the Path Finder Update 1.2 comes with the online base sharing "allowing other players to discover and explore your outpost." "No Man's Sky" has also been integrated in the Steam Workshop where players can show off their base outposts.
