'No Man's Sky' News 2016: What We Know So Far about This 'Open Universe'
Despite its expected release date over several months more to go, "No Man's Sky" continues to make buzz. What do we know about the game so far? What should gamers expect?

Developer Hello Games has placed the number of worlds in the game at 18 quintillion. This is exactly 18,446,744,073,709,551,616, according to MoviePilot. That's a mind-boggling number of unique planets players can explore in the game.

Players need only one second to be able to visit all these planets, according to lead developer Sean Murray, which would still take 585 billion years. The number of planets is practically infinite, so much so that the game has been called "open universe" by MyGaming.co.za.
But Movie Pilot warns that all these many worlds would be "largely the same with only minor changes," much like how "Minecraft's" random worlds look like.
How is the game played?
"No Man's Sky" has no story or objectives. Players are encouraged to go off exploring and trailblazing their own course.
When in a new world, players will continually scan and identify the animals, plants as well as points of interest. Anything newly discovered can be named by the player who found them. These will then be recorded in a global database called "The Atlas." Information contained in The Atlas are not private but shared with all players.
While exploring a planet, players need to bear in mind that abusing wildlife and overexploiting its resources are considered culpable offences.
In "No Man's Sky," players can take on the role of an intergalactic merchant, a pirate, and more, according to MyGaming.co.za, and live with or against organized authorities and various factions.
Will it come to the Xbox One?
Rumors of "No Man's Sky" coming to the Xbox One started last year when ID@Xbox director Chris Charla said in an Inner Circle podcast, "I would love to see [No Man's Sky]." However, chances of the game actually releasing on Microsoft's Xbox One are slim, according to Game Rant, as the game is pegged as a Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive title.
"No Man's Sky" is among the most-anticipated games of the year. The game is expected to release in June for the PS4 and PC.
