Noah Wyle Arrest Over Medicaid: 'ER' Star Headed to Jail

"ER" actor Noah Wyle was arrested Monday during a political protest in the opposition of cutting Medicaid.

Born Noah Strausser Speer Wyle, the film and theater actor grew to fame with the popular television series " ER," which ran for 15 seasons beginning in 1994. Wyle only remained as a standing character for 11 seasons.

Wyle played medical student John Carter. His character was phased out in season 11 after the actor decided to move on from "ER" to put a focus on his family. In the show, Carter leaves for Africa to be with his on-screen love interest. Wyle appeared occasionally, however, in later episodes all the way to the show's finish.

On Monday, Wyle was arrested along with 100 other members of the group ADAPT. According to the organizations website, "ADAPT is a national grass-roots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom."

The group was attempting to protest Congress in an effort to prevent them from making cuts to Medicaid. The Medicaid program currently provides health coverage to over 60 million Americans.

It appears that former "ER" stars have actually been in the habit latlye of getting themselves arrested. Only last month, former "ER" star George Clooney was also arrested in Washington D.C. for participating in a protest outside of the Sudanese embassy.

Both Clooney and his father were arrested in March while protesting over the Sudan crisis. The pair was charged after police reported that both men crossed over a police line.

"They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world," Clooney's publicist Stan Rosenfield told TMZ.
