Nokia 3310 revival latest news, rumors: HMD Global to unveil reboot of iconic Nokia phone at MWC 2017?

HMD Global, the Finnish manufacturer which took over the exclusive rights to market phones under the Nokia brand, is reportedly planning to announce several new handsets for the brand at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain later this month. Among these new smartphones is the rumored reboot of the classic Nokia 3310.

According to Venture Beat, a person briefed on the company's plans revealed that a modern version of the Nokia 3310 will be introduced at the MWC event on Feb. 26. The rebooted gadget will reportedly be priced at €59 (roughly $63) and will be promoted to nostalgic former owners as a second phone.

The Nokia 3310 was released at the turn of the millennium, replacing another popular Nokia model, the 3210. Since it was launched, the classic Nokia feature phone has been praised and recognized for its lengthy battery life which would last for days, and its nearly indestructible build that kept the gadget functional even after falling from a considerable height.

According to Engadget, the Nokia 3310 is a technology icon, and reviving the classic phone device will draw attention to the HMD's intended revival of the entire Nokia brand.

Details about the reboot of the Nokia 3310 so far remain scarce. However, since news of the gadget's revival broke out, many have speculated on what features the classic Nokia device would be equipped with once it hits stores.

As reported by Gadget 360, the rumored phone revival is expected to stick to the features that the original Nokia 3310 model was known for. Many also expect that the modern version of the 3310 will not be able support certain apps people have been accustomed to using nowadays. However, that does not mean that the forthcoming gadget will be completely devoid of features most smartphones are usually equipped with.

In fact, Youtube user Concept creator has released a video showing a concept phone for the Nokia 3310 reboot. Among the speculated features the handset may sport include a 1.5-inch screen with support for 256K color, a rear camera, a support for FM radio, 8 GB of internal storage, a micro-USB port for charging and data transfer, and a 1,650 mAH battery with up to 235 hours of standby time.

The original Nokia 3310 had a two-tone green and black display, 1,000 mAH battery, the signature Nokia Navi Key and an alphanumeric keyboard.
