NRB 2005 Opens Doors to Exposition

Following the election of the National Religious Broadcasters' newest chairman, NRB 2005 kicked into full gear Sunday with the official opening of its exposition.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Following the election of the National Religious Broadcasters' newest chairman, the NRB 62nd Annual Convention & Exposition kicked into full gear Sunday with the official opening of its exposition.

After a brief introduction by NRB President Dr. Frank Wright and an opening prayer by Chairman/CEO Glenn Plummer, the NRB opened the doors into its highly anticipated exposition, which TradeShow Weekly named as one of the 50-Fastest growing industry expositions in the nation for the second consecutive years.

The NRB Convention & Exposition (NRB 2005), which gathers thousands of Christian communicators from all over the world, is the largest nationally and internationally recognized event dedicated to assist, train and network professionals in Christian communications.

Nearly 300 exhibitors are attending the NRB exposition in the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, ranging from Christian publishers, humanitarian agencies, mission agencies, broadcasting ministries, businesses, and educational institutions. And more than 6,000 are expected to attend over the six-day convention, which is expected to be one of the best in the association’s history, as reflected with the introduction of its premiere Tech Lab.

According to NRB 2005 coordinators, the convention is a "must attend" on the broadcast industry's calendar, serving as the best way to meet with and speak directly to top management in Christian communications.

At Saturday night’s opening session, Wright spoke of how electronic media dominates today’s society and that while there are distinct negatives to that domination, it also provides “wonderful opportunities to proclaim the truth.”

More than 141 million Americans alone tune in monthly to some form of religious media, according to the NRB. Over a five-year period, the actual number of radio stations with religious formats have grown, with the actual number of Christian radio stations increasing to 2,014 or 12 percent during this period.

With this type of growth, the challenge for continual broadcast ministry, creativity and excellence is at the forefront of all NRB events.

In addition to the exhibits, the exposition includes intensive “Boot Camps”, vital educational sessions, inspiring keynote addresses and ministry from internationally known speakers and artists, the peer-driven Innovation Exchange, the crucial leading-edge information found in the award-winning Exposition, the ever-expanding Job Fair, and the busy Educational Pavilion.

According to Wright, NRB 2005 is about “renewing our vision and commitment to reaching the world for Christ through electronic media.”

This year, NRB 2005 also saw the election of its newest chairman--Ronald L. Harris of Criswell Communications. As announced Saturday night by the NRB, Harris will be joining the agency's Executive Committee in place of Rev. Glenn Plummer, whose three-year term as chairman ends with NRB 2005.

Also joining the leadership team are James A. Gwinn of CRISTA Ministries, who was elected vice chair; Janet Parshall of Janet Parshall's America, second vice chair; Richard P. Bott II of Bott Radio Network, secretary; and Roger K. Kemp of Roger Kemp & Co. treasurer.
