NRB's Dr. Frank Wright Awarded 'Champion of Religious Freedom' Award
Dr. Frank Wright, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), has been awarded with the prestigious Champion of Religious Freedom Award by the Unity Coalition for Israel (UCI) at a recent press conference in Nashville.
The UCI, an alliance of Christian and Jewish organizations actively working together to generate support for the State of Israel, presented Dr. Wright with the award for "courageous leadership in protecting religious freedom world-wide – for such a time as this," NRB revealed.
One of the religious liberty efforts Dr. Wright has been involved in includes re-affirming NRB's commitment to international religious liberty by approving a resolution on the international persecution of Christians, which calls on the U.S. government to strengthen its position globally and to promote the spread of First Amendment freedoms around the world.
Christians have been facing increasing persecution in predominantly Muslim countries – a recent worldwide webcast called "Love Costs Everything," which featured activist Francis Chan, attempted to shed light on the stories of Christians facing persecution in a number of countries around the world.
At the Nashville event where Dr. Wright was honored, Esther Levens, Founder & CEO of UCI, praised the NRB president for providing a powerful source of information on national and international scenes.
"Gathering and disseminating important testimony for Congress and representing voices of the persecuted and oppressed Christians, revealing their plight by speaking out in their behalf is central to your mission," Levens said of Dr. Wright during the presentation of the award.
"By following the intricacies of legislation and giving expert testimony, as well as writing NRB letters of documentation you impact the lives of Christians around the world. You coordinate all branches of the Christian media in this collaborative effort and in this way you single-handedly influence the well-being of the Christian community world-wide. The world scene is your challenge," the UCI founder concluded.
According to the NRB website, Dr. Wright is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church (PCA), and has a long history of involvement in Christian ministry. He also served as founding executive director of the Center for Christian Statesmanship, a spiritually based outreach to members of Congress and their staff, before taking over as president at NRB.
With more than 17 years experience working on Capitol Hill, Dr. Wright has close working relationships with congressmen, senators and influential staff, as well as administration officials at the highest levels.
