GTX 950 Release Date: Nvidia Reportedly Launching in August 2015
After releasing its very high-end graphics card, the GTX 980 Ti earlier this year, Nvidia is reportedly working on a mid-range graphics card and will be releasing it sometime mid-August. The new graphics card is set to go against the graphics card of rival AMD's Radeon R7 370.
Called the GeForce GTX 950, it is rumored to be released on Aug. 17, and will have Nvidia's GM206 Graphical Processing Unit or GPU, which was also in the GTX 960 which was released in January of this year. Unlike the GTX 960 however, the report said that 25 percent of the CUDA cores in the GM206 are disabled for the GTX 950, which means that its core count is at 768, and not at the original 1024 found in the GTX 960.
In terms of clock speeds, the report said that the new graphics card will be clocking between 1150 and 1250 MHz, "with a boost clock speed between 1350 and 1450 MHz." In this case, the GTX 950 in fact has a higher clock speed than the GTX 960, whose base clock speed is only at 1127 MHz and boosted clock speed at 1178 MHz.

It will have 2 GB GDDR5 memory and its 90W TDP card will be powered by a single 8-pin PCle connector. Priced at $150, it is being set up to compete against AMD's Radeon R7 370 which has the same price but with 4GB GDDR5 memory.
The new graphics card is said to be a good choice for gamers who want the power but are concerned about the price. The GTX 980 Ti is Nvidia's high-end graphics card which will set back gamers a whopping $650. Other mid-range graphics cards of Nvidia include the GTX 960 which can be had at $200, the GTX 660 at $230 and the GTX 760 at $250.
According the Nvidia website, the new graphics card "delivers great gaming performance at 1080p with inspired GameWorks technologies for fluid, life-like visuals."
