NYPD Officer Arrested for Plans to Kidnap, Kill, Cannibalize 100 Women

The FBI has arrested a New York City police officer after learning of his plan to "kidnap, rape, torture, kill, cook and cannibalize a number of women," according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Six-year NYPD veteran Gilberto Valle allegedly worked with others in order to accomplish his goal.

"Gilberto Valle's alleged plans to kidnap women so that they could be raped, tortured, killed, cooked, and cannibalized shocks the conscience. This case is all the more disturbing when you consider Valle's position as a New York City police officer and his sworn duty to serve and protect," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement.

Valle's plan came to light through emails and instant messaging with friends who he hoped would help him achieve his goal. According to the FBI, Valle planned to use the police's database system in order to select his victims and had composed a list of more than 100 women.

FBI officials were horrified to see that Valle had gone so far as to put together a "file" on each intended victim, including her photograph, address and physical description. How, or why, Valle decided to engineer this plan remains a mystery to officials still investigating the case.

"I can just show up at [one prospective victim's] home unannounced, it will not alert her, and I can knock her out, wait until dark and kidnap her right out of her home," Valle said in a conversation with a friend. "I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus…cook her over a low heat, keep her alive as long as possible."

According to Fox News, Valle is married and has a child of his own, making his plan even more gruesome. Valle's wife, though, fled the home after reporting "weird stuff" on her husband's computer. That led the NYPD to investigate, and they handed the case over to the FBI.

Right now Valle is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and accessing a computer without authorization. If found guilty, he could face up to life in prison; he has already been placed on suspension from the NYPD.
