O.J. Simpson Hosts Party in Jail for Super Bowl
New reports detail that former NFL player O.J. Simpson hosted a Super Bowl party in his jail cell to cheer on the San Francisco 49ers - his former team, with whom he played with for two years.
Simpson is serving a 33-year sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada for kidnapping and armed robbery, after trying to steal sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room. It is reported that he bought a television and invited members of his cell block over to watch.
"Simpson is one of the few inmates who has his own TV … If you have the money, you can buy a TV at the inmate store and put it in your cell,' Norman Pardo, a friend of Simpson, told the New York Post.
The former NFL man was charged with murdering two people and was famously acquitted of the double murder in 1995.
"There was no shortage of potential guests because he's so popular. 'He's like the Godfather of the prison now,'" Pardo added.
In other news, Simpson's troubled ways seem to have rubbed off on a former girlfriend, after she was arrested on charges of stealing pain medication from a patient who was in her care.
Christina Michelle Prody, 37, was accused of stealing the pain medication from the home of a Minnesota couple where she was working as a nurse's aide, according to CBS.
Media reports state that the patient's wife first noticed that nearly 300 tablets of his prescription oxycodone were missing. His wife installed a surveillance camera that recorded Prody stealing other medication while she was supposed to be caring for her patient.
Prody was charged earlier this week with six counts including burglary, theft and drug possession. Prody was involved in a 13 year relationship with Simpson after he was found not guilty for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
