Obamacare Navigators Caught Red-Handed Telling Applicants to Lie on Health Insurance Applications (VIDEO)
A new video was released by conservative activists James O'Keefe and shows ObamaCare navigators in Texas allegedly telling potential enrollees to be less than truthful on their health insurance applications.
The video was created by O'Keefe's as part of his Project Veritas and it has created a firestorm, even prompting one Senator to suggest the program should be halted in order to resolve all the improprieties surround sounding people up for health insurance.
On Monday Republican Sen. John Cornyn suggested the program should be stopped when news of the undercover video spread. The Senator also raised concerns brought forth by Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius who warned that felons could become ObamaCare navigators due to the lax oversight and hiring protocols used to recruit navigators.
"This behavior is unacceptable, and is yet another broken piece of a deeply flawed system. The Obama administration should stop this program immediately," Cornyn said in a statement. "Texans should not be purposefully misled and more importantly, their privacy should not be put at risk."
Navigators are hired workers who are tasked with helping people understand their health care options while also helping individuals sign up for health insurance.
During one excerpt from the video and person posing as an uninsured individual looking to understands his options tells one of the navigators that he smoke cigarettes sometimes but does not know if he should
"You lie, because your premiums will be higher," one of the navigators is heard saying
"Don't tell them that," another is heard saying off camera.
During a later segment in the video an undercover agent visits the an office of the National Urban League office in Dallas, with the actor advidsed not to declare unreported income becase it could adversely affect him.
"Don't get yourself in trouble by declaring it now," one of the navigators is heard saying
O'Keefe's group says it will release more videos of its "ObamaCare investigations" in hopes to expose the fraud that can take place during the ObamaCare rollout.
"This investigation shows just how vulnerable ObamaCare is to fraud," O'Keefe said in a statement.
So far the Obama administration has given out roughly $67 million is grant money to help navigators sign people up for health care but some politicians are worried about the opportunity for fraud.
"With the administration rushing to hand out billions of dollars for the health law to countless groups, the potential for fraud and abuse is exceptionally high," Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) told Fox News.
"The law's rollout has been a disaster, and we will continue our aggressive oversight of Navigators and all grant recipients on behalf of the American people to ensure taxpayer dollars are not misused or wasted."
