'Octodad: Dadliest Catch' Release Date: Game Headed to Nintendo Switch This Week

Almost four years after its initial release, the hit independent adventure game "Octodad: Dadliest Catch" is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The game will be available on the console via the Nintendo eShop starting Nov. 9. It is a follow-up to "Dadliest Catch" and features the titular character reluctantly spending time with his family and doing all sorts of dad things.

The key is for Octodad to act as normal as possible and not to arouse the suspicion of humans especially the evil Chef Fujimoto who knows what Octodad is hiding and is looking to cook him.

The official description for the game, per Gematsu, reads:

"Octodad: Dadliest Catch" is a game about destruction, deception, and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus masquerading as a human, as he goes about his life. Octodad's existence is a constant struggle, as he must master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan nature a secret from his human family.

In this sequel to the splash hit Octodad, our cephaloprotagonist has gotten himself in a bind between his wife's mounting mistrust, and a disastrous trip to the local aquarium! Are you dad enough to control the titular octopus father as he strives to hide his nautical nature from his family while keeping his tangled tentacles intact?

"Octodad: Dadliest Catch" was first released on the PC in January 2014 and then released in the PlayStation 4 (PS4) in April of that year. It was released on the PS Vita, Xbox One and Wii U the following year as well as the mobile versions.

Apart from the imminent release of "Octodad: Dadliest Catch" on the Nintendo Switch, developer Young Horses is also giving away a copy of the game bundled with the SNES Classic. The promotion runs until its Nintendo Switch release.
