Ohio State Marching Band Does Hollywood Tribute: Superman, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter (VIDEO)
The Ohio State marching band's latest tribute to Hollywood blockbusters has gone viral after their halftime show Saturday. The tribute by "The Best Damn Band in the Land" included references to "Man of Steel," the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Jurassic Park" and "Pirates of the Caribbean."
The Ohio State marching band, known by fans as the "pride of the Buckeyes," did their show during the football team's game against Penn State Saturday. The first tribute included the "Man of Steel" theme and Superman's traditional S-shaped logo. Afterwards, though, the band formed a slowly leaning building and Clark Kent, who went into a phone booth to transform and save the day.
The next tribute to Harry Potter again excited fans when they saw the telltale "HP" logo. The Ohio State marching band took things to the next level, however, when they managed to form Harry playing wizarding sport Quidditch and catch the Golden Snitch.

The "Jurassic Park" theme from the 1993 film was well known for fans of the Buckeyes, who reacted immediately to the band's music, which is completely percussion and brass. The marching band's formation showed the iconic T-rex chomping down on an unsuspecting football player and spitting out his helmet, much to the delight of onlookers.
The final tribute was as much a reference to "Pirates of the Caribbean" as it was a jab at rival school Michigan and their Wolverines. While the very recognizable movie theme played, the band split into two ships— both had signifying banners of Ohio and Michigan— and lit fireworks to represent cannon fire. Of course, the Ohio ship rammed Michigan, sinking it, to raucous applause from fans.
In addition to a spectacular performance, Ohio State crushed Penn State 63-14.
The viral performance by "TBDBITL" this weekend— a video on YouTube has already surpassed 5.9 million views— follows last week's tribute to Michael Jackson and the 25th anniversary of his album Bad. For the halftime show, the band formed the King of Pop moonwalking and played his hits "Thriller," "Bad," "Billie Jean" and "Man in the Mirror."
