While Regina has always been perceived as the villain, it looks as if Season 5 will see her player the hero to save the "Dark Swan" from the clutches of darkness.

Audiences will witness a reversal of roles, with Emma (Jennifer Morrison), crossing over the line to evil territory, and Regina trading places with her to become the "savior." There are speculations Emma's character may not recover from her bout with darkness, and thus be unable to return to her old self.

Enjoying her new power and strength, but unable to get used to the uncontrollable force of her new command, Emma may seek out Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle). How she will accomplish this with Mr. Gold in a coma after his out-of-body experience from the last season, is still up to speculation.

However, the show's executive producers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have revealed the former Dark One will indeed serve as Emma's mentor and trainer, an Entertainment Weekly interview has detailed.

Carlyle also pointed out during the San Diego 2015 Comic-Con that while Mr. Gold's body may be in a coma, Rumperstiltskin certainly isn't, meaning Emma may actually get some assistance from the heartless Rumple.

Whether this distinction may point towards building up the story for a possible split personality disorder is a story angle audiences may have to wait for when "Once Upon A Time" premieres next month during its usual Sunday timeslot at 8 p.m. E.T.
