'Once Upon a Time' Season 7 Spoilers, Cast: Co-Creator Addresses Pilot/Premiere Comparison; New Rapunzel Announced
There have been rumors that the premiere of "Once Upon a Time" season 7 will be much like the pilot due to its soft reboot setup, but series co-creator Adam Horowitz said this will not be the case.
The pilot saw the characters deal with a curse. The new group will be dealing with a different kind this year, but its implications will be different. As Horowitz explained:
We're not doing what we did in the pilot, which is a curse hits and rips everyone away [from their lives]. The first episode is not about the curse, when it happened or how it happened. We're coming at this a different way.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Horowitz spoke about the characters to expect in "Once Upon a Time" season 7:
For the first time in the show, we're really seeing our fairy tale characters in the mix with real people. So there's an element of, who is a fairy tale character, who isn't a fairy tale character?
In related news, TVLine is reporting that "Once Upon a Time" season 7 will feature a new Rapunzel with "TURN: Washington" alum Meegan Wagner stepping into the role.
The princess first appeared in the third season of the ABC fantasy drama and was played by "Chicago Fire" star Alexandra Metz.
The new version of Rapunzel featured in the new season is trapped inside a tower by an evil sorceress. Being "feisty and full of pluck," however, she will do everything to break the spell and have the person responsible answer for what she's done.
This will mark the third change with existing characters in the "Once Upon a Time" universe. Cinderella, first played by Jessy Schram, is now played by Dania Ramirez, while Rose Reynolds will play a new version of Alice, who was first portrayed by Sophie Lowe in the spinoff "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland."
"Once Upon a Time" season 7 premieres Friday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
