'Once Upon a Time' Season 7 Spoilers: Second Half to Feature Familiar Characters

"Once Upon a Time" season 7 is currently on a break. But, when the show returns, fans can expect to meet the Coven of the Eight.

Fans were introduced to the idea of the Coven in the first half of the season. Mother Gothel (Emma Booth) is now free, and she is on a mission to reunite the Coven for her own evil purpose. Apparently, it will not be hard for her to find them since they are all in Hyperion Heights.

"Mother Gothel is going to be recruiting the Coven of the Eight, who are under cursed personas," executive producer Eddy Kitsis told TV Guide. "So a lot of these witches don't realize they were once powerful witches, and they now find themselves in everyday jobs."

The identities of these witches have yet to be revealed, though Kitsis teased that fans may know some of their names. "These are witches from iconic fairytales or Disney lore," he said.

Speaking of familiar characters, the premiere episode will feature one that a lot of Disney fans will recognize. While Kitsis did not reveal who it is, he did tease which movie the character is from. "We will be seeing someone in episode 11, which is a reference we've never done before, which is from the 'Haunted Mansion,'" he told Entertainment Weekly.

For those who are unaware, "The Haunted Mansion" is a 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy that was based on a Disney theme park attraction of the same name.

Kitsis also promised that the Coven will be a different kind of villain than previous ones featured in "Once Upon a Time." As for what Mother Gothel plans to do with them, fans will have to wait until the second half of the season to find out. "What she wants is going to directly affect one of our characters and yet the audience doesn't know which one yet," he previewed.

"Once Upon a Time" season 7 will resume on Friday, March 2, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
