One Direction member Harry Styles is reportedly set to ink a solo deal with Sony Music in 2016 as the boy band takes an "extended hiatus."
Sony music executives approached Harry Styles, 21, to seal a lucrative solo deal with the famous singer next year. The news comes in the wake of One Direction's rumored breakup and announcement to extend its hiatus, according to the Daily Mail.
At present, the young singer is under Simon Cowell's firm Syco, which is also a Sony division. Sony prioritized Styles over his other bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne because he is believed to be the "breakout star" of One Direction.

Showbiz insider Dan Wootton cites sources close to Sony saying the record company is keen on securing Harry Styles for a solo deal. He added that Zayn Malik, who was the first One Direction member to jump ship for a solo career, will release his album first before Styles, the Independent reports.
"Zayn will get to release an album first, as he left the band earlier," the Independent quotes the source. "But the most excitement is about what Harry is going to do."
The public, especially Styles' fans, are eager to find out what his solo music will sound like and how it will turn out. So there is definitely a lot of pressure to make sure his solo career takes off, the report relays.
To prepare for his solo career, Styles has been listening to tips from former Ticketmaster and Live Nation head Irving Azoff.
There is also a potential opening for Styles in the movie industry. Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has predicted the singer's entry into the movie business and even called him a "superstar," who does not need to audition for him.
