Open Doors, Moody Radio Partner in Prayer Event for Spiritual Revival in US, Persecuted Church

Persecution watchdog group Open Doors and Moody Radio Network are partnering in a call for prayer at a broadcast event on Thursday, aimed at speaking out for the persecuted church and calling for a revival.

"This is a special opportunity to pray for followers of Jesus who are suffering simply because of their faith. They do not enjoy religious freedom as we do here in the United States," said Dr. David Curry, president/CEO of Open Doors USA, urging listeners to tune in to the "OneCry Prayer Summit: Praying for the Persecuted Church" broadcast on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6-7 pm. CST / 7-8 pm EST.

"During this week there is a global emphasis on prayer for the persecuted church," added Moody Radio Network Senior Producer Joseph Carlson. "We will take this opportunity to seek God for spiritual awakening in America as we learn from and uplift our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ."

The prayer broadcast is set to feature interviews with ministry leaders who have worked with Open Doors and other persecution watchdog groups such as Voice of Martyrs and Gospel for Asia, and will play music by Meredith Andrews. Radio announcers Wayne Shepherd and Pastor Bob Bakke will serve as hosts.

Open Doors has served to expose and tackle Christian persecution around the world for almost 60 years now, with a mission to strengthen Christians to "stand strong in the face of persecution and equipping them to shine Christ's light in these places." Its annual World Watch List ranks the countries where Christian persecution is most felt.

OneCry, on the other hand, is described as a "movement of believers who are urgently crying out to God to revive the Church and transform the culture." It further clarifies on its website that it isn't an organization, program or event, but brings together like-minded people, churches, and organizations who agree that the U.S. needs a "dramatic turnaround" – to cry out to God for a spiritual transformation.

"The goal of this hour is to bridge our need for awakening with the experience of those awakened by persecution as we cry out for a new work of the Holy Spirit in America," the movement says about the upcoming broadcast event.

Those wishing to tune in to the broadcast can stream audio online on Thursday on the OneCry website.
