Oppo R7s Features Thin, Lightweight Body, Comes with 4GB of RAM
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo unveiled last Sunday the R7s smartphone during the GITEX 2015 event in Dubai. According to Digital Trends, the device is an evolution of its predecessor, the R7, which was released earlier in the year.
The price for the handset has not yet been revealed but it is expected that the phone will be selling in around 10 countries from November. NDTV Gadgets reported that the R7s will be launched in Australia first and then into other markets including Taiwan and Singapore. There's no news yet on when the device will be made available in the Indian market.
A very notable thing that's missing in the fresh device is the rotating camera lens. But it is apparent though that it sports a thin, lightweight and powerful design. The source mentioned that the body is composed of a metal alloy with a special coating over the top so that it can preserve the finish. Its 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x 1920) AMOLED display is covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and even has a 2.5D shape which Oppo refers to as the Arc Edge.
A surprising thing with the device is that despite being a mid-range phone, it carries 4GB of RAM which is actually a lot. Stuff noted that 4GB of RAM on a smartphone is still not a common feature, not even among flagship devices. It's important to remember though that despite the mega memory installed into the R7s, under the hood, it still uses a somewhat ordinary Snapdragon 615 processor and not a higher-spec Qualcomm chipset.
Moreover, other features of the smartphone include dual SIM slots and a 32GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via microSD card by up to 128GB. It also boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front selfie snapper. It runs with Android 5.1 Lollipop with ColorOS 2.1 skin on top and is given life with a 3,070mAh battery with fast-charging VOOC technology.
