Opposing Player Surprises Special Needs Basketballer With Unforgettable Act of Sportsmanship (VIDEO)
The game between Oklahoma high schools Woodward and Guymon was pretty much over with visiting Woodward well ahead in the closing minutes.
It was Senior Night, the last home game of the year. Guymon head coach Troy Cox put in senior Bryton Aubrey, a student with special needs, to play his last game in front of the home crowd.
In this video by Bryton's father Mark, the young man shoots a three-pointer from the corner. The ball bounces off the backboard and back into his hands, so he hoists another, but it's also a miss. A Woodward player gets the rebound, but instead of advancing the ball to run down the clock, he gives Bryton the memory of a lifetime.
The opposing player passes the ball to Bryton so he can try one more time. And with perfect timing, he sinks it, sending everyone in the gym into a frenzy, especially the Woodward player who gave him the assist.
Bryton's father said in a YouTube comment:
"We all seen a video clip from time to time that says there still hope for America because of something awesome usually portrayed by a group of young people. This video clip is what I believe to be another great example and we were blessed to be apart of and greatly impacted by."
