Oprah Winfrey Comeback Show 'Next Chapter' Will Feature Joel Osteen
Oprah Winfrey will be returning to TV screens across the world once again with a new show “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which will be broadcast on her cable TV channel OWN, and will feature megachurch pastor Joel Osteen as one of its first guests.
Oprah is returning in front of the camera less than a year since ending “The Oprah Winfrey Show” of 25 years in May this year.
The two-hour episode will debut in January and will feature Winfrey meeting with Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler at his family home in New Hampshire.
According to OWN’s statement released on Friday, Tyler will discuss his drug addiction, his love life and his new-found fame on American Idol.
Oprah’s new series will also feature actor Sean Penn and they will speak about the recovery efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
The chat queen will also tour Skywalker Ranch with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas and will celebrate “the power of God and community” with evangelist Joel Osteen.
“After 25 years I got myself out of the studio chairs,” Oprah said in the statement.
“I moved into the next chapter, and I am having more fun than ever -- moving around the country and the world talking to people I'm really interested in getting to know and I think viewers will be, too,” she said.
The Oprah Winfrey Network was launched in January 2011 but the ratings have been disappointing. In July, Oprah took over as CEO of the network to refocus the channel’s direction and put more of herself on the screen.
Another show, “Oprah’s Lifeclass,” debuted in October, which shared insights, life lessons and old clips from her iconic 25-year talk show.
Oprah’s best friend Gayle King is said to be leaving OWN and moving on to CBS where she will co-host The Early Show.
