Oprah Winfrey Hailed for Funny Appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' (VIDEO)

Oprah Winfrey has received widespread applause for taking a light hearted approach to her network's low ratings during an appearance on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show on Sunday night.

Despite recently getting caught up in controversy which resulted in critics accusing Winfrey of unethically begging for viewers on Twitter, the TV host took part in a comical skit with late night show host Jimmy Kimmel about boosting her network's viewership.

In the brief skit, the renowned media mogul allowed Kimmel to pitch show ideas for her OWN network, in a bid to boost current ratings.

Winfrey, who is renowned for her strong spirituality and for being a positive role model, had many viewers experiencing fits of laughter as she acted out a violent character who at one point becomes a thief.

During one instance, Kimmel suggests that Winfrey base a show on her once popular "Oprah's Favorite Things" segment with a bizarre twist for shock value, which she ultimately plays out in his imagination.

"Remember your old show where you gave away your favorite things?" Kimmel asks. "Those were your favorite things right, but now you don't have them anymore because you gave them away. On this show, you take them back!" Kimmel tells a stunned Winfrey.

Many OWN fans and some of Winfrey's celebrity friends hailed the appearance on Kimmel's show as "hilarious."

"jimmy kimmel n oprah - freaking hysterical," OWN talk show host, Rosie O'Donnell, tweeted.

"@JimmyKimmel's pitches for OWN: "Oprah REPOs Her Favorite Things" "Dr. VJayJay" "Book Club Fight Club"?? great comedy," actress Holly Robinson Peete tweeted.

"I love that Oprah can show that she has a sense of humor. Jimmy Kimmel is so silly!" Alexx Dupri tweeted.

Although sources say that the OWN network has suffered low ratings since its debut in January 2011, viewership increased by 4 percent last month, according to TV By The Numbers.
