Orange is the New Black Season 3 News: New Cast and Characters Coming, Martha Stewart Not a Fan
Mary Steenburgen will be joining the cast of "Orange is the New Black" when the show's third season premieres next year.
The actress, who is known for her role in "Justified" and for playing Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's mother in "Step Brothers," will be playing correction officer Pornstache's (Pablo Schreiber) mother. According to TVLine, "Steenburgen has been given the unfortunate task of loving one of the Netflix comedy's least lovable characters."
Steenburgen has taken to Twitter to confirm the good news.
"Very excited to go to my first wardrobe fitting of OINTB! Will I be in orange or will I be in black?" she wrote.
Meanwhile, Litchfield Penitentiary is about to get a new correction officer as it has been confirmed that Marsha Stephanie Blake will be joining the show. She will be joining other officers Pornstache, Bennett, Caputo, and Fig.
As of now, there have been no spoilers for season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" as show runner Jenji Kohan remains tight-lipped about the upcoming season's premise. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, she only mentioned that the third season will be "about faith" but refused to say anything more about the subject.
Though "Orange is the New Black" has been nominated for a slew of awards at the Emmy's and is currently the most watched series in Netflix's history, one celebrity shared that she did not care much for the show. Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart shared her opinions on the show during an interview with Porter magazine, and went straight to the point.
"They could have done so much better," Stewart said.
"That girl is not good enough, the lead actress," she continued, referring to Taylor Schilling who plays Piper Chapman. Schilling's role is loosely based on Piper Kerman, the writer of the memoir "Orange is the New Black." The 30-year old actress was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy in this year's Emmy awards.
"I met the real Piper. She was in prison either the same time or after me, and I talked to her about it," Stewarta added.
"Orange is the New Black" season 3 is slated to premiere in 2015. An official premiere date has not yet been announced.
