'Orphan Black' Latest News: First Final Season Teaser Released

To promote the forthcoming conclusion of its popular TV series, BBC America has recently released the first teaser for the fifth and final season of "Orphan Black."

The new promo video for the upcoming season shows the camera traveling along a train track which soon transforms into the double helix of DNA.

This may be a reference to the start of season 1, when Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) witnessed her doppelgänger Beth Childs jump in front of a speeding train. The suicide of Sarah's look-alike marked the beginning of her journey toward the discovery that she is only one of many clones created under Project LEDA, a genetic project initiated by the progressive scientific organization Neolution.

"We would die for each other, but we will live for each other," a voice can be heard saying in the teaser.

The fifth and final season of "Orphan Black" has confirmed the return of Evelyn Brochu as Delphine, Calwyn Shurgold as Hell Wizard, and James Frain as Ferdinand.

New cast members have also been added to the fold such as "Watchmen" star Stephen McHattie as the 170-year-old founder of Neolution, P.T. Westmoreland; Elyse Levesque as dirty Neolution cop Detective Engers; Andrew Moddie as Rachel's new mysterious consultant, Mr. Frontenac; Simu Liu as Kira's new homeroom teacher, Mr. Mitchell; and Jenessa Grant as a young islander named Mud.

Last year, BBC America announced its plans to renew "Orphan Black" for a fifth season. However, it was also revealed that its return in 2017 would be its last. Series co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson also gave their heartfelt statement about the forthcoming ending of the series:

"We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show. We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC America and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high."

The fifth and final season of "Orphan Black" is scheduled to premiere on June 10 on BBC America.
