OS X Mavericks Download for Second Golden Master Version Seeded by Apple

The OS X Mavericks download for the Second Golden Master version was seeded by Apple to developers earlier today.

This new version rolled out just a little more than two weeks after the first one. It is only available for users performing a fresh install of Mavericks. Some users have had luck re-installing the new GM over the prior version, according to 9to5Mac.

The software recently attained Golden Master status which is the state where it is ready to ship and be installed on new Macs. Apple moved a fair portion of its Mac software engineering resources onto 10.10.

It is expected to roll out during the last half of October. Apple has not officially confirmed its release date or price at this time.

Customers will be able to purchase and download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store, and Apple is holding an earnings conference on Oct. 28. The company normally provides final release details for its new operating systems during the prepared remarks portions of these financial announcements.

Apple designed OS X Mavericks similar to iOS 7 as both will feature close to the same appearance. iOS 7 rolled out to mobile device users last month.

Apple will host a media event on Oct. 22 where the company is expected to unveil the fifth-generation iPad and iPad mini 2. The new OS X Mavericks could also end up being released during the event.

The iPad mini 2 will feature a Retina display with an A7 processor and the iPad 5 will have a similar design to the first mini model and will come with an A7X chip. Both of these devices will feature 8-megapixel rear cameras.
