"People are going to love the new features in Mountain Lion and how easy it is to download and install from the Mac App Store," said Phillip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "With iCloud integration, Mountain Lion is even easier to set up, and your important information stays up to date across all your devices so you can keep editing documents, taking notes, creating reminders, and continue conversations whether you started on a Mac, iPhone or iPad."
The software's new iCloud integration allows Mac users to access Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Messages, Reminders, and Notes, and keep everything including iWork documents up to date across all of their Apple devices.
The Messages App will replace iChat and allow users to send messages to anyone who owns an iPhone, iPad, Mac or iPod Touch.
The new Notifications Center will streamline the presentation of notifications and provide users with easy access to alerts from Mail, Calendar, Messages, Reminders, system updates and third party apps.
Mountain Lion will also feature system-wide sharing that will make it easier to share links, photos, videos and other files quickly without having to switch to another app, and the new Dictation will allow users to dictate text anywhere they can type. It even works on apps created by third party developers.
Game Center will bring the popular social gaming network from iOS to the Mac computer. This will allow users to enjoy live, multiplayer games with friends who are on ther Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
