Oscar 2012 Red Carpet Twitter Reactions
The 2012 Academy Awards has Twitter ablaze with comments and reactions from users.
Earning special attention this year is Angelina Jolie who shocked in a strapless black gown with a high-rising split that revealed one leg. Although the actress was not nominated Sunday night, she has dominated talk of the evening.
When Jolie took the stage as a presenter, the audience gasped when she paused momentarily to reveal her leg from the Versace dress. Additionally, Twitter users immediately took to the site voicing their reactions.
"Angelina Jolie's arms are skinnier than any kids' she could adopt from Africa," said one.
The Twitter account for E! News posted jokingly: "And the biggest star of #Oscars night? Angelina Jolie's right leg!" while attaching images of the star.
"Dear Angelina Jolie… Eat something, #Oscars," wrote Twitter user Bonnie.
Jolie's fans defended her surprising flash of skin though, writing that the 37-year-old actress is "still a hottie."
Jolie's display has resulted in her right leg getting its own Twitter account.
"Look at me," reads the first post from the account with the handle @AngiesRightLeg. "Great meeting most of you for the first time last night at the Oscars!!"
Oscar winners also made waves on the social media site, with fans of "The Artist" as well as critics expressing surprise.
"The Artist won," wrote Harry. "Big silent film fan and so happy that a film like that can still be appreciated this day in age."
The red carpet also saw funny antics from the star of the upcoming film "The Dictator." Promoting the comedy, Sacha Baron Cohen spilled "Kim Jong-il's ashes" on red carpet host Ryan Seacrest Sunday night.
"My mom always told me to pack two jackets for red carpets, always wondered why. Now I know," wrote Seacrest on his Twitter account.
"Sacha Baron Cohen successfully self-promotes on #Oscars red carpet," wrote Vulture.
Kelly Osbourne weighed in on the incident, posting on Twitter: "I'm sorry @RyanSeacrest this was the moment of the night!"
"@RyanSeacrest you are a Pro," wrote actress Kristin Bell.
