The Oscars 2015 winners have been announced and most awards went as predicted by analysts ahead of the Academy Awards show. Taking the biggest prize of the night was Birdman, which won the award for Best Picture.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted this year's awards show, and opened with a big theatrical number at the event in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Harris was joined in his musical number by Anna Kendrick and Jack Black, and together they paid tribute to some of the best performances and well-known scenes from Hollywood's movies.

Birdman went on to win the awards for Best Picture and Best Director, where as British actor Eddie Redmayne won the award for Best Actor for his part in The Theory of Everything.
