Oscars 2016 News: Predictions, When And How To Watch The 2016 Oscars
Awards season is kicking off once again with the 2016 Oscars on Oscar Sunday, February 28. The ABC Network is broadcasting the show live, which starts at 7 p.m. Eastern Time or 4 p.m. Pacific Time. This year, the awards night will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock, who last hosted the show in 2005.
According to the show's official website, Oscar.go.com, the live telecast will begin at 7 p.m. ET with the red carpet entrance of this year's nominees. This usually includes short interviews with actors, actresses and directors vying for this year's Oscars. The awarding ceremony officially starts at 8:30 p.m. ET or 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
To watch the show, viewers in the United States can tune in to the ABC Network or watch a live stream of the show online through ABC.com or through the WATCH ABC app. Live streaming, according to the website, however, is limited to those who have TV provider accounts and residing in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco. International viewers can tune in to local TV networks and video sites who are authorized to air the awards show. With the Oscars just a few days away, the Internet is also abuzz with predictions on who will bag the main categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
According to a report in Variety, "The Big Short" is in the running for Best Picture, while for Best Director, Alejandro Inarritu is their bet for his work in "The Revenant." Leonardo DiCaprio is on the top for Best Actor for his role in "The Revenant" while Brie Larson is their pick for Best Actress for her role in "Room." The report also cited their prediction for Best Animated Feature which is Disney's "Inside Out."
