'Outlander' Season 2 Start Date, News: Sam Heughan Says #Droughtlander Almost Over, Photos Show French Fashion And Claire's Pregnancy
Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will be ditching the kilts and heavy, rough-hewn tartans in favor of silk and refined French couture when the pair immerses themselves in Parisian society in the second season of "Outlander." The American-British TV drama series, which has been renewed for at least 13 more episodes, is set to return in March or April 2016, as previously announced by the show's creator, Ronald D. Moore, on Twitter.
More recently, actor Sam Heughan, who plays the role of Highland warrior James "Jamie" MacKenzie Fraser on the show, also took to Twitter to give fans an update on the forthcoming second season of the hit Starz series. The actor tweeted: "Season 2 is almost complete, #Droughtlander is almost over! Thanks again to out extended Clan of Outlander Fans, we make it for them."
Heughan also gave credit to the cast and crew of "Outlander" for its Radio Times TV Show Champion 2015 award, saying, "The award is due to all the cast and crew who work SO hard in every weather condition." The 35-year-old Scottish actor was "delighted the show has won [the] award and is getting recognition in the UK," he told RadioTimes.com. He called the award "a huge Christmas present from the 'Outlander' fans."
Meanwhile, new photos from Season 2 of the show have surfaced, and they show Claire and Jamie looking posh and polished in lavish French garb. The images also showcase Claire's heavily pregnant belly as she stands with Jaime by a fireplace.
"Outlander" costume designer Terry Dresbach spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the outfits for Season 2, and said, "This is why I came back into the business to do this show." She added: "Getting to do 18th century French court is a designer's dream. It's fabulous."
The second season of "Outlander" is set to premiere in Spring 2016.
