'Outlander' Season 3: Series Will Feel 'So New'; More Intimacy Promised

"Outlander" season 3 will take longer to arrive than expected. Cast member Caitriona Balfe feels the pain of a longer wait for fans and so she treats them with some details about the new season.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actress apologized for the late comeback of her character Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) to the small screen before she proceeded to drop some teasers.

"I think this season is going to be really interesting and it's going to be so new again. I mean, I think we do that every season; we sort of flip it on its head," Balfe explained.

"Last season, we went to Paris and it was something totally different. This season, we start off with a little bit of a separate storyline, which is really fun for us. We're hoping the fans will be as happy," she went on to say.

"Outlander" season 3 will begin with Jamie and Claire in different places and time. Both go on with their lives with the thought that they won't see each other again.

The season will explore how two decades can change a person. Jamie goes into the Battle of Culloden while Claire lives her life with Frank (Tobias Menzies).

As teased before, however, the star-crossed lovers will find their way back to each other as "Outlander" season 3 progresses and Balfe teases a "great reunion."

In an interview with Vulture, the actress teased that "when Jamie and Claire get together again, their love is timeless and who they are inside is timeless."

Readers of the "Outlander" books by Diana Gabaldon on which the series is based would know that their reunion will be special. It will involve a print shop scene that fans hope will be given justice on the Starz drama. Balfe also promised more intimacy in the new season compared to the previous one.

"Outlander" season 3 will premiere in September. Filming is still well underway.
