'Outlander' Series News: Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin Pay 'The Old Fox' A Visit

Actors visit Wardlaw Maosoleum, Sir Lovat's grave for character research

Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin of "Outlander" season two recently headed to the Wardlaw Mausoleum in Scotland to increase their knowledge about the history of the Fraser family. International Business Time has reported that the two also visited the grave of the explorer Simon Fraser of Lovat.

This report has also been confirmed by Skelton via her Twitter as she posted photos of their visit to the Mausoleum. Further confirming the reported visit was the post of Wardlaw Mausoleum on their official Twitter account.

"The Old Fox's Great Granddaughter Bree and her husband Roger paying their respects!" said the tweet along with the posted photos.

The explorer Lovat is dubbed as the "Old Fox" in the series, which is a fictional fusion of drama, romance, history, and science.

Several fans of the series have already made their way to the explorer's tomb and attested that the place is, indeed, a must-visit. Apart from just visiting the grave, a number of fans have, likewise, travelled to the other parts of Scotland, not just to see the featured locations of the series but also to enrich their knowledge about history and the characters who they admire from the series.

Scotland Now has reported that the officials of Scotland's tourism industry are pleased that the show has chosen to film there. While it is true that several scenes of the upcoming season two of the series need to be shot in France, most of the action still needs to be filmed in Scotland.

Two of the show's main characters, Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies, were seen being filmed for an important scene in Glasgow's Pollok Park. Other members of the cast were also spotted in Kilmarnock's Dean Castle.

According to International Business Times, Rankin's move to visit the mausoleum for background research for his character is indicative that there are still some scenes for season two that need to be completed.

"Outlander" season two premieres in Spring of this year.
