Overcome the Fear in Your Life Today

God wants us to live free from all fear with a bold, courageous, confident faith in Him. Many people struggle with this because of different kinds of fear in their lives. The only answer to fear is faith in God, knowing He loves you unconditionally and individually.

The Bible says in 1 John 4:18 (NKJV) that "there is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment." We can't put our faith in God if we don't believe He loves us all the time, unconditionally.

The truth is, God has a good plan for your life, and He does not want you to be tormented by fear or held back from your destiny by fear. Now, anytime we are making progress and moving forward in God's will for our lives, the devil will try to come against us with fear to drive us backward. But we can build up our faith in God so that when fear comes, we can say, "Whatever I need to do, I can do through Christ who strengthens me. I will not fear!"

I've discovered seven common fears people experience and want to talk about a couple of them in this article.

The Fear of Trouble
Nobody likes to have trouble. The moment we get a hint that it's coming, a common response is, "Oh no! Not again!" And then dread sets in.

I used to have a vague sense of fear that something bad was going to happen all the time. It started when I was a little girl and went through a lot of abuse. So many bad things happened to me that I came to the point where I expected something bad all the time, even after I was a Christian.

I remember the morning I finally prayed asked God, "What is this? Why do I feel this way all the time?" God spoke to my heart and said, "It's evil forebodings." I had never heard that term before, but a few days later I found it in Proverbs 15:15, which says, "All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances]" (AMP).

We will all face difficult times in life, and when we do, it's easy to have anxious thoughts and forebodings. But we need to get to the point where we learn to agree with God and His Word when trouble comes. We can release our faith by saying, "I know God loves me. He will take care of me and protect me. I believe He will give me the grace and strength to do what I need to do, and something good will come out of this."

The Fear of Failure
We will all fail in life, but nobody has to be a failure. Failing at a thing doesn't make you a failure. You are only a failure when you quit trying.

When we believe God has put a desire in our heart, we need to be courageous and step out and find out if it's His will. There have been times when I tried things and they didn't work out. One example of this is when I tried to go on television before it was God's perfect timing for me to be there. After six months, we had only received one piece of mail and we weren't receiving the support we needed for it. I had to be confident enough in my faith in God to recognize my mistake and say, "I thought I was being led by God but I wasn't," and then shake it off and go on.

When God puts something in our heart, it's easy to get mixed up about the right timing for it. Nobody is perfectly led by the Holy Spirit all the time and we learn from our experiences. I don't regret trying TV the first time. It helped me learn how to be happy where I was and trust God to bring us favor and make a way for us to be on television at the right time-in His timing.

First Peter 5:6-7 says, "Humble yourselves…under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully" (AMP). We can trust God to take care of us and lead us in His good plans for our lives, free of fear. Release your faith in Him by praying and saying what His Word says, and taking God-inspired action. He loves you and wants to do something good in your life today!
