'Overwatch' Halloween Terror Event to Returns Next Week; New Character Skins Hinted to Be Added

Picking up from where they started last year, Blizzard announced that the "Overwatch" Halloween Terror event will return for a 2017 edition.

The game developer announced via Twitter that the annual event will kick off on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The post came with a poem that read, "The nights grow cold / And monsters appear / A great evil gathers / And Halloween draws near."

According to Gamespot, the event will run until Nov. 2, where new skins and cosmetic items for different characters will become available. Moreover, the Twitter post also came with a teaser showing Dr. Junkenstein, as well as new Halloween-themed skins for Reaper and McCree.

Meanwhile, Polygon noted that Blizzard will likely bring back last year's cooperative PvE game-type, Junkenstein's Revenge, based on Junkenstein's appearance on the event's logo on the teaser. Last year's PvE brawl had players teaming up with three others as they take on shambling zomnics, which are essentially spooky robots.

In the campaign, players were pitted against some of "Overwatch's" heroes clad in Halloween-themed costumes. These included Junkrat and his Monster, Roadhog, along with Reaper, and witch Mercy. Players, in turn, need to use Ana, Hanzo, McCree, and Soldier to keep Junkrat from penetrating the doors of the Adlersbrunn castle.

It will be interesting to see what kind of plot and twist the 2017 edition of the Halloween Terror has in store for "Overwatch" fans.

Meanwhile, "Overwatch" landed on the 10th spot in the list of the top 10 best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of August, reported Gamespot. The results came from the NPD Group, which saw EA's "Madden NFL 18" taking the top honors. It was followed by Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto V," which came as a surprise, considering it's approaching the fourth year since it was launched.

"GTA V" was followed by "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" at third, "Splatoon 2" at fourth, and "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" at fifth.
