'Overwatch' Patch 1.8.0 News, Updates: Game Browser Launched; Saving Custom Settings to Come in the Future

Blizzard Entertainment's team-based multiplayer first-person shooter platform, "Overwatch," is arguably one of the prized jewels on its crown. As such, it gets updated to ensure its loyal players get the most out of the experience, with the latest patch bringing a game-changing feature.

The latest trailer introduces the title's new feature, Game Browser. This brings customization to a whole new level, as it allows players to make their own original rulesets or even use some popular predetermined settings. From health points to character abilities, the only limit to how the game can be changed is one's imagination.

With this mode, a player can invite friends and challenge them in a skirmish with one's own rules. For those who seek a bigger sense of excitement and achievement, the created settings can be made public where everyone can try it out, putting the conceived world to the ultimate test.

Looking at the boons of the new feature, it definitely is an exhilarating mode to try, adding another layer of how to play "Overwatch." The only downside is the absence of the option to save the custom settings, which means players will have to spend considerable time creating new rules before playing in it. Fortunately, this concern is something that's being heard by the developers, and has promised it will be an improvement to be included in future patches.

The latest patch for the game not only includes the Game Browser, but is making "Capture the Flag" a permanent mode. Players had a good time engaging in this new brawl during the Year of the Rooster Event, and so Blizzard has decided to make it a mainstay, opening possibilities within the existing maps.

Aside from the abovementioned additions to the game, hero updates, changes to competitive play, map balances and bug fixes are also included in patch 1.8.0.

"Overwatch" continues to be one of the fan-favorites and has won the Game Developers Choice (GDC) Game of the Year Award, showing that it does not plan to slow down anytime soon.
